"I never dreamt of being a carer or a nurse it was something that was put on me from a very young age of 15 years old living with my Grandmother who was diagnosed with emphysema at the age of 70, I would help with cooking and house work in addition to my grandmother receiving home help from two lovely ladies caring for her up until I became 17 of which by then I was her main carer. I would not only cook and clean I would then also help bath and dress her and help with medications, I also had an apprenticeship at the same time in hair dressing which after a year I decided it was best to end it prematurely as my Grandmother needed more care and I wanted to care for her full time and be with her as much as possible. I adored my Grandmother, she was everything to me and made me the woman I am today, she showed me that caring for someone is not just about love it was about caring for them when they no longer can care for themselves, she was my inspiration and that’s when I knew my life was meant to be to care for others. When she died it was one of the most hardest things I have ever had to deal with in my life but the experience I gained from it all has allowed me to build a career spanning three decades in the care sector, from working in residential home care, agency’s, private care to working in the ambulace service. After all those years and having my own clients and being with them and their families I have cared for those with spinal injuries, brain injuries, early onset dementia to all stages of dementia/Alzheimer’s and elderly care and so much more. I've been told on numerous occassions that I should set up my own care business and it's always been in the back of mind to do it but I gained a huge confidence boost when clients families recommended me to other potential clients, so with my good friend and colleague, I started my business and brought my daughter on board with us with her level of care experience and we have not looked back since. I have a fantastic team of 14 ladies that work with me and we have some very wonderful clients that are not just clients to us they are like extended families. When I started this company the one thing I told myself was I would strive to give consistency and the best level of assistance where companionship, friendship, and trust in us to assist for the person or persons that come to us, we aim for the personal touch with our clients and strive to be the best personal assistants we can be".
